Neon hammock in the trees

Sticking out as I do

A foreign thing

A foreigner

Morning hoping no one sees

So I get the fall morning breeze

To myself

But morning work must be done

So I find myself with company

Neon hammock in the trees

The morning worker sees

A smile and confirm

that my neon hammock in the trees

is okay for him...though foreign indeed

A universal thumbs up he gives to me

The cool fall breeze

like breath in my soul

Refreshing my joy in this land

where I and my hammock are foreign

A gift it is that this hammock stays

hanging on skinny trees

planted to be for none other

than to see

I think of the One who sustains

me

the trees

the birds I hear chirping

I breathe in the cool fall breeze

and can't help but know

My sustainer loves me

these trees are a gift from He

Sun peaks through

the surrounding buildings

Man made

but still enjoyable like the cool fall breeze

Give thanks to the Lord

for He is good

for His steadfast love endures forever

to the foreigner in the neon hammock--me
